Ahmet's Testimony As the most pious son of a Muslim family, I, Ahmet, have always been interested in religious knowledge....
The word means someone who sees, knows or has information about an event or situation. A witness can testify to the events they witnessed. When a person testifies to what he or she has witnessed, those who have not witnessed what has been told are in a position to express an opinion about the event or person based on the person's experiences.
Christian witness is a way of telling about our experience of Jesus Christ to those who have not had that experience. In the Bible, God has always revealed himself through his people. In this way, those who look at God's people come to understand who God is. It is important to remember, however, how successful the Israelites once were in trying to carry on this testimony. In spite of the failure of the Israelites, Jesus Christ became the true witness and made God truly known to us. Therefore, whoever knows Jesus Christ knows God personally, because Jesus Christ has made God fully, accurately known. Jesus Christ, the true witness, said of himself: “He who comes from above is superior to everyone else. That which is of the world belongs to the world and speaks of the world. The one from heaven is superior to everyone. He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. He who accepts his testimony has set his seal that God is true.” (John 3:31-33)
That is why Jesus Christ gave this command to the Apostles even before He ascended into heaven: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) That is why, since the time of the first Christians, everyone who knew Jesus Christ has been telling how he or she met Jesus Christ. The presence of Jesus Christ is so real to the witnesses that they cannot help but testify to what they have experienced. So the Apostles Peter and John told the Jewish religious leaders who threatened them and ordered them not to talk about Jesus Christ: “Judge for yourself whether it is right to listen to your word before God and not to God's word. We cannot help telling what we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4:19-20), declaring their determination to continue this witness. For the ministry of calling those who are in darkness to the light has been given to those who are witnesses of Christ. Fortunately, in this time, in this land, we have also been given the task of bearing witness to Christ.
That is why “Witnessing” is a very important, very sacred duty. That is why our Lord says:
“You are my witnesses
You are the servants I have chosen.
So that you can get to know me and trust me,
That you may know that I am He.
There was no god before me,
And it won't happen after me.
I, and I alone, am the LORD,
There is no savior but me.
(Isaiah 43:10-11)
Someone who has met Jesus is called a witness, the impact of knowing Jesus is evident in the person's life. So it is vital that we ask ourselves this question: What kind of witness am I? Am I trying to be a failed witness like the Israelites or am I trying to be a witness who is pleasing to God like Jesus Christ and the Apostles?.
“But let your life be worthy of the Gospel of Christ. So that whether I come and see you or not, I may hear the news about you, that you stand firm in one spirit, that you fight together as one soul for the faith proclaimed in the Gospel, that you are not in any way discouraged by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them - a sign that they will perish, but you will be saved. And this is the work of God.”
(Philippians 1:27)
“Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven!”
(Matthew 5:16)
We have set up this section especially for you to share your valuable testimonies. So, how do we write testimonies? By following these important points, you can witness for Christ and become better witnesses by practicing it all the time.
To be witnesses of Christ;
Meeting Jesus Christ changes our character, our soul and our life. “I have come to know Christ as Lordbless it in your hearts. Always be ready to give an appropriate answer to anyone who asks you the reason for the hope that is in you.” (I Peter 3:15), we must be ready to give our testimony in a way that is appropriate for all who ask.
You can tell about your life before Jesus Christ. Who were you? How did you live, what did you think, what was your character, what was the meaning of life for you? Were you depressed? Did you live in a constant search for pleasure? What were your family and friend relationships like? Were you lonely or did you have a large circle? You can talk about these things that are important to you.
What did you know about Jesus Christ before you believed? Why did you want to know more about Jesus Christ? What made you come closer to Jesus Christ? Who did you learn that Jesus Christ is? How has Jesus Christ touched your life? What kind of experiences did you have to come to faith in Him? How did you feel when you read the Bible? How did God speak to you? You can tell me about something about Jesus Christ that has touched you.
What changes happened in your life after you came to Christ? How did you feel spiritually? What did people say about you before, what do people say about you now? How has your outlook on life changed? What are you experiencing as you apply the commandments of Jesus Christ to your life? You can tell about many things like this.
